The 2023 Tax Law Changes, Transfer Pricing Developments & Global Minimum Tax Rules

On 23 December 2022 the National Assembly finalised and approved the government's bill to introduce tax law changes. The new laws also enact the global minimum tax rules, making Korea the first country in the world to introduce the rules.       


In this session PwC will provide details of how the global minimum tax rules and other tax law changes will impact on foreign invested corporations and individuals in Korea. The session will cover proposed changes to corporate and individual tax laws and transfer pricing.

    Changho is a tax partner in the International Tax Service practice at PwC Korea with over 24 years of experience which includes 2 years with the International Tax Service group in the Los Angeles office of PwC US.

    He assists many foreign and Korean multinational companies with tax compliance, audit defense, tax appeals, tax incentive application, etc. He also provides inbound and outbound tax structuring advice for various multi-national companies in relation to strategic tax matters such as mergers & acquisitions, global tax planning, and holding company structures. He has experience in a variety of industries, including but not limited to manufacturing and technology.

    Joon Yang is a Managing Director in PwC Korea’s Transfer Pricing Practice. With over 25 years of transfer pricing experience, Joon serves clients in a wide breath of industries and geographic regions. His experiences include APAs, dispute resolutions, global planning, and documentation studies. Joon is also actively involved with PwC Korea’s customs practice. His customs experiences include risk assessments, multiregional customs planning and implementation, and customs audit defense. Joon spent 9 years at PwC’s Los Angeles office before transferring to PwC Korea.
