Korea and Germany are swiftly moving towards the common goal of carbon neutrality. As industrialized, export-oriented countries with a focus on manufacturing, both countries face similar challenges to achieve carbon neutrality and energy transition. In Korea, there has been an increasing interest and political commitment in the energy transition in recent years. Political and technological advancements have been made in Germany since the 2000s, based on the national consensus on climate protection and energy transition.
Given the geographical characteristics of both Germany and Korea, offshore wind is considered one of the main driving forces to scale-up renewable energy generation and achieve carbon neutrality. Against this backdrop, this conference has been organized to hear from the German and Korean Governments in terms of their supporting policies and lessons learned in the development of offshore wind and aims on intensifying business exchange and collaboration in these future-oriented industry fields. The invited experts will also share their knowledge and technological experience from a national and global perspective.
