Ten years ago Korea and the European Union struck an exemplary trade deal – the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (EU-Korea-FTA). For the European Union it was the first time to conclude a free trade agreement with an Asian country.
Since then the EU-Korea FTA has proven very successful. For both partners, it has fostered a high level of market liberalization and serves as a platform for bilateral trade and investment.
Trade in goods between the EU and Korea has increased from 60 billion EUR to 90 billion EUR, with foreign direct investments commitments growing similarly.
This online event aims to discuss key issues relating to future challenges and to identify areas in which a modernization of the FTA would be beneficial to both parties.
